of organization: Improve the well
being of Brief summary of organization’s
history, goals and key achievements: The Center for
Development in Primary Health Care-Al-Quds university is a community based
entity that works under the imitative and legal umbrella of the university 1.
Upgrade the capacity of local grass root
organizations in the rural areas and hardest hit areas affected by current
violence. 2.
conduct evaluation research to assess the impact
of the community based interventions and to make use of success and
challenges facing such interventions 3.
design and implement psycho-social projects that
address the impact of trauma on
children and women in the most
affected areas 4.
Upgrade the village facilities and centers to
improve their ability to provide services for local youth children and women. 5. improve the environment conditions through building proper latrines ,rain –fed cisterns and house gardens in the target villages 6. conduct community based education and training courses in the areas of health, environment, women ,income generation and others 7.
To design and implement educational and training
programs and manuals in community health, psychosocial and environmental
dimensions. 8. To foster the
development of community based psych-social health education, training and
research to address the psych-social needs of the Palestinians especially in
remote areas. 9. To promote
knowledge, skills and capabilities of local human resources congruent with
needs of local health and development settings. 10. To conduct and
disseminate information and research findings in the relevant areas. 11. To adapt
development experiences and models to suit the peculiarity of the Palestinian
community. 12. To provide consultations
and conduct research in the area of PHC with focus on children and women. 13. To provide
opportunities for exchange of experience with local and international
institutes aiming at the development of models in health and health related
training/research and education. 14. To act as a
health development instrument towards developing national health policies and
standards in the efforts to improve quality of health services through
training/education and research. Youth
Projects: (in process) Training and education in reproductive health and youth health.(Ford Foundation ) This project aims at developing the skills of youth leaders in youth health topics that allow them to become better, managers, educators and trainers for other youth groups. Then the trained youth leaders will conduct youth health awareness activities in five districts of the West Bank. Duration of the project: 1 Sept 2008- November 2009.
